Poetical Recollections of Irish History; With Notes Illustrative of the Particular Subject of Each Lyric
Kind permission to upload an image of an original copy of Miss Herbert's first publication was given by Mrs Lefayre Palmer, Palmhurst, NSW, Australia. Lefayre is a direct descendant of Miss Herbert's eldest brother, Henry Arthur, who married Matilda Elizabeth Lacy
This book was inscribed to the Marchioness of Ormonde
Miss Herbert was only 22yrs old at the time of the publication of her work
This volume grabbed the attention of notable literary crtics of her time and they in turn declared her a serious contender for the laurel of Mrs Felicia Hemans who had died in 1835
Published by William Curry, Jun., & Co of Dublin in 1842

The Bride of Imael: Or, Irish Love and Saxon Beauty; A Poem of the times of Richard the Second
This was Miss Herbert's follow on volume of work to Poetical Recollections of Irish History and not only had she reached the expectations expected of her by the literary critics of her day but she had surpassed them
No longer was she merely a strong contender for the laurel of Mrs Felicia Hemans, for this work of poetic art had ensured she had become the legitimate successor to it (see REVIEWS)
The cover featured is an image of that which adorned the front and back of the original book. The title must have been printed on the spine of the book
